In this sermon, we see the implications of God’s design for women as revealed in Genesis 2:21-23. The sermon challenges traditional interpretations that confine women’s purpose solely to childbearing or their relationship with men. Instead, we delve into the idea that women are created as equal partners in God’s plan, possessing their own identity and purpose. By examining the context of the scripture, we uncover that the term ‘helper’ does not diminish the value of women but highlights their integral role in the divine narrative. As we reflect on Adam’s declaration, ‘This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh,’ we recognise the call for unity and equality in God’s creation. The message encourages us to embrace the truth that both men and women share the same divine purpose and identity, fostering a deeper understanding of our roles within the church and society.
